Yannis é Engenheiro-Pesquisador Principal do Verisign Labs, onde lidera os esforços para criar valor a partir da riqueza de dados que as operações da Verisign geram todos os dias.
Yannis leva à Verisign seus 20 anos de experiência em concepção, criação e concretização de inovações, combinando grandes ideias com o trabalho árduo de materializá-las. Foi assim no ambiente acadêmico, em uma empresa iniciante, enquanto conduzia pesquisas governamentais e patrocinadas pela DoD/DARPA e para uma empresa global da Fortune 200.
Yannis foi Pesquisador Sênior na Fujitsu Laboratories of America (FLA), uma unidade do braço mundial de P&D da Fujitsu Ltd., onde foi responsável por todos os aspectos do processo de criação e comercialização de inovação dentro do grupo de pesquisadores e desenvolvedores que ele controlou, nas áreas de aplicação de computação ubíqua, pagamentos por celular, segurança e pesquisa de dados grandes.
Antes da Fujitsu, Yannis atuou como Diretor de Tecnologia e membro da equipe executiva da PowerMarket, uma empresa iniciante de capital de risco de software de aplicativos empresariais (cadeia de suprimento). Como um dos primeiros funcionários da PowerMarket, envolveu-se em todas as atividades relacionadas a produtos e tecnologia, liderando as iniciativas de roteiro de tecnologia, propriedade intelectual e parcerias, colaborações e aquisições de tecnologia.
Antes da PowerMarket, Yannis foi Professor-Pesquisador Adjunto do Departamento de CSEE da UMBC, onde lecionou, participou das iniciativas de padronização e conduziu pesquisas nas áreas de Inteligência artificial, agentes de software, recuperação da informação, software empresarial e gestão da cadeia de suprimentos.
Enquanto ainda estava na graduação, fez estágio no TJ Watson Research Center da IBM.
Yannis concluiu seu doutorado em Ciência da Computação pela UMBC, onde sua pesquisa se concentrou em agentes de software, e se formou em Física pela Universidade de Atenas, Grécia. Foi autor de mais de 40 publicações revisadas, com cerca de 4.000 citações, e recebeu 14 patentes da USPTO. Sua pesquisa atual se concentra nos dados ao longo de todo o ciclo de vida, da geração à monetização.
