Brian Dickson

Senior Research Engineer

Biography

Brian Dickson is a Senior Research Engineer on the Verisign Labs team. He received three Bachelor of Mathematics degrees from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, in 1988, 1990, and 1991, including a joint honors degree in Pure Math and Computer Science.

Brian’s professional background is as a Network Architect & Engineer, with an extensive background in both practical and theoretical aspects of networking and computers. He has previously worked on a DNS TLD service roll-out, building and running the backbone network at a Tier-1 ISP (Teleglobe, now part of TATA), and developing a BGP-based IP exchange service (at Arbinet).

Brian is an active participant in protocol development work in the IETF, in both the BGP and DNS working groups, including BGPSEC and DNSSEC. He also participates in network operator organizations such as NANOG, ARIN, DNS-OARC, and APRICOT.
